Wentworth Castle Gardens, Barnsley, Yorkshire
Glorious gardens, woodland and parkland, created for the privileged few and preserved for everyone to enjoy.
There are 500 acres to explore at south Yorkshire’s only grade 1 registered landscape. Follow a winding path through the parkland wilderness and pause to watch the herds of deer, or admire the neat borders of the Victorian Flower Garden before exploring exotic plants in the Victorian Conservatory.
A walk through the fernery will bring you out at Stainborough Castle, the magnificent hilltop folly built to rival a cousin. You can climb to the top of the folly to look out on far-reaching views of the Yorkshire countryside.
