Burton Agnes Hall will be hosting a day of farm themed family entertainment on Sunday 23rd June. See an impressive display of Burton Agnes Estate’s farm machinery, including among others 200 horsepower John Deere tractors, a 30ft cut Claas combine, a digger, sprayer, drill, plough and a forklift. Take fun photos in a big, yellow Caterpillar Challenger with tracks, and discover the amazing SatNav and equipment in the cab.
Take a trailer ride around the historic Hall’s park field, looking over the rolling Wolds, and spot animals along the way including guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, sheep, donkeys, ponies, cows, pigs and adorable pygmy goats. Try and navigate the giant bale maze, and enjoy a farm quiz trail around the gardens and grounds of the Hall. For those with energy to spare, there will also be a farm themed bouncy castle.
Visitors are invited to bring a picnic rug and enjoy fabulous food – the team will serve sublime wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas and ice creams from a restored 1963-vintage ice cream van. Recharge with locally roasted coffees, Yorkshire teas and a feast of cakes and baked treats.
The Elizabethan house will be open to discover. In the courtyard, two shops sell gifts, souvenirs, seasonal produce and treats; walled garden grown plants are on sale, and local artists show their original work in the Gallery. This fun-filled day is both entertaining and educational – packing in seriously fun farm activities for all.
