Burton Constable Hall is hosting an exciting new exhibition, running until 2nd September 2018, showcasing Britain’s carving heritage with a modern twist!
This beautiful historic house on the outskirts of Hull is playing host to a collection of exquisite hand carved music stands. Produced by the Master Carvers’ Association, the stands pay tribute to Chippendale through exhibiting works of today for today’s patrons. Like Chippendale’s furniture, these pieces are designed to be both functional and sculptural objects, and will be taken to Leeds following their stay at Burton Constable for the Leeds International Piano Competition.
This display is part of a national programme of events marking 300 years since the birth of Britain’s foremost furniture designer and maker Thomas Chippendale. Come and marvel at these beautiful works of art, set among the fittings and furbelows of this stunning Elizabethan house alongside furniture created by Chippendale himself.
The exhibition runs until 2nd September 2018; Burton Constable Hall is open Tuesday – Sunday 12 – 5pm, while the grounds are open seven days a week 11am – 5pm. Last admission 4pm; please see our website for details.
