Thinking ahead for something new in 2020? Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens on the outskirts of York is hosting two drop-in staff and volunteer recruitment days on Thursday 9 and Saturday 11 January.

Whatever your passion and your level of experience we have plenty of opportunities to meet different needs and in return we can provide a beautiful environment to work in as part of a great team and new skills or opportunities to satisfy your desire to learn or to help develop your CV.  Drop-in days are a great opportunity to see if volunteering with the National Trust is for you or find out more about the jobs on offer.

The jobs on offer range from permanent to fixed term and varying hours are available to fit around the rest of your commitments. So if it’s serving up the day’s menu in the restaurant, leading the teams with exceptional customer service or creating displays in the shop, keep an eye on the recruitment pages for the latest jobs.

Volunteer opportunities range from working directly with people arriving for a visit, to out and about in the parkland or engaging with visitors who have arrived to see the latest exhibition. But if you’re not sure where your place might be, don’t worry; we’ll listen to your interests and preferences and try and guide you to the best role.

Beningbrough’s volunteers come from all age groups and backgrounds…you don’t have to wait for retirement to reap the benefits. Many students and recent graduates use volunteering as a great way to build their CVs and gain relevant experience or simply to get a sense of where their place in the workforce might be.

Sue Jordan, Volunteer Manager said: “Primarily in all our roles we are looking for people with great communications skills and who are happy to engage with visitors of all ages. The beauty of volunteering is you don’t have to be an expert, just enthusiastic, and we can train you with the rest.”

Sue went on to say “The start of the year is when several departments are looking for paid staff too to add to their teams. Most of the roles on offer involve working with members of the public from engagement in the hall, in the restaurant or kitchen and in the shop. Good customer service skills and a friendly manner in a busy environment are essential skills to have.”
