Fairfax House, York, North Yorkshire
Come and experience one of the finest eighteenth-century townhouses in England.
One of the nest Georgian townhouses in England, Fairfax House transports you to the world of Georgian Britain.
Originally the winter home of Viscount Fairfax and his daughter Anne, this eighteenth-century townhouse’s richly decorated interiors, magnificent stucco ceilings and beautiful collection of furniture unfold a story of life behind closed doors in the bustling Georgian city of York: the food, the fashions and the entertainments.
Admission includes entry to Fairfax House’s two exhibitions for 2020 – ‘Influencers: The people who shaped eighteenth-century Britain’ and ‘Keeping Up with the Georgians: Celebrity, Society and Satire’, as well as the annual Living History Weekend in August. Families can also meet Gregory, The Townhouse Mouse, and enjoy his award-winning trail and quest.
