There is something for everyone to enjoy, from awe-inspiring architecture and grand interiors, gardens dotted with lakes and follies, and an award-winning adventure playground with activities for all ages. Built over 300 years ago by Sir John Vanbrugh for the 3rd Earl of Carlisle, Castle Howard remains a family home with a rich history, as well as a backdrop to beloved period dramas Brideshead Revisited and Bridgerton. Cafes offer locally sourced Yorkshire menus, and the gift shop, farm shop, and garden centre stock a unique selection of homewares, gifts, food and drink. Our changing program of events includes school holiday activities and our award-winning Christmas experience.
