Burton Constable Hall will celebrate Easter 2026 from 28 March to 12 April, with Good Friday, 3 April as the centrepiece – a full day of live entertainment, outdoor activity and family-friendly experiences set within the historic house and its surrounding parkland.
The highlight of the day is Rusticus Adventure: The Search for the Golden Fleece, an energetic outdoor theatre performance combining myth, comedy and audience participation. Audiences will follow two delightfully chaotic sheep on a quest inspired by classical legend, brought to life through lively storytelling and interactive moments. With three performances scheduled across the day, advance booking is essential.
Alongside the performance, visitors can take part in archery sessions hosted by the Burton Constable Company of Bowmen. These sessions offer a hands-on introduction to traditional archery skills, with expert guidance available throughout, making them suitable for beginners as well as those looking to refine their aim (additional cost applies).
Younger visitors can enjoy Easter storytelling sessions in the Wild Haven, designed specifically for children under six. These sessions provide a more relaxed, immersive experience before the day continues with the Easter Bonnet Competition, held outside the Hall. Families are invited to bring along handmade bonnets, with prizes awarded for the most colourful and creative designs.
Throughout the wider Easter period, visitors can also enjoy themed indoor and outdoor trails, exploring both the historic interiors of the Hall and its surrounding grounds. Participants who complete a trail will receive a small reward.
Easter Activity Packs, available from the admission desk for £3, offer an additional way for children to engage with the site.

The Burton Constable Foundation, established in 1992, is dedicated to preserving and maintaining Burton Constable Hall, its historic collections, surrounding buildings, and parkland for public benefit.
Burton Constable Hall is a large Elizabethan country house located near Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Home to the Constable family for over 700 years, the Hall features 30 grand rooms filled with fine art, exquisite furniture, and decorative treasures, including the extraordinary Cabinet of Curiosities, home to scientific instruments, natural history specimens, antiquities, and more.
The surrounding parkland, designed by ‘Capability’ Brown, offers scenic woodland walks, lakeside views, and abundant wildlife. The historic stables provide a glimpse into the estate’s working past and are also home to the impressive 60-foot skeleton of a sperm whale, famously referenced in Moby-Dick.
Visitors can complete their day with homemade cakes, light meals, and hot drinks at the Stables Kitchen.
