York Gate Garden is a one-acre hidden gem, that offers enjoyment for both passionate plantsman and designers alike.
The garden has been given Grade II listing by Historic England for recognition as an important post war landscape and garden.
An Arts and Crafts style garden with 14 different garden rooms is maintained by a young and passionate team of horticulturalists. After expanding the garden in 2020, visitors will now have access to the traditional wildflower meadow, plant nursery selling unusual and rare perennials, café serving homemade seasonal dishes, heritage centre explaining the Spencer family’s garden legacy and gift shop selling a wide range of garden gifts. Owned by Perennial, the UK charity helping people in horticulture and their families.

All visits must be pre-booked online.
From Leeds, follow A660 north; right at lights at Adel, Church Lane, then left; Park in church lay-by. Walk through churchyard, straight on to garden entrance.
