York Gate Garden, Leeds, West Yorkshire
York Gate: a hidden gem. A Grade II national heritage garden inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement.
The garden was created by the Spencer family in 1951, with a wish for it to bring learning and pleasure to others. A unique collection of garden rooms sit exquisitely within the one-acre site that expands into a traditional wildflower meadow.
A cafe serves homegrown produce from the Kitchen garden and the Mediterranean garden features a sun terrace to relax on.
The heritage centre will keep you informed, the gift shop will tempt you so you don’t go home without a memento and you can recreate your favourite bit from the garden with the rare and unusual perennials in the plant nursery.
