Growing Cut Flowers

March 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Growing cut flowers in your own garden or allotment is an excellent way to make the most of your garden – and to bring the best of the garden into your house. We are delighted that Harrogate-based flower grower Elizabeth Jackson will be joining us again in 2023 to lead a hands-on course which was a sell out in 2022. You will have the opportunity to plant some flower seeds in pots so that you can start your own cut-flower garden. Soil, seeds and pots will be provided.

In addition the course will include: choosing the best varieties to grow; propagation; growing on; feeding; watering; supporting plants; picking the flowers and planning the yearly cycle of cut flower growing.  This will give you your own flowers to cut for months and months.

Flowers From the Garden

Elizabeth’s business is Flowers from the Garden, based in a three acre site in Harrogate where she grows a wide-variety of flowers, both annuals and perennials, plus foliage specifically to supply British grown cut-flowers to the public and florists. She is a member of the award-winning membership association, Flowers from the Farm, championing artisan growers of seasonal, scented, sustainable British cut flowers.

All courses include entry to the garden plus welcome coffee and biscuits. Unless stated,  materials are provided and you will leave each workshop with plenty of reference information.

Cost – £48.
