One of only a handful of working monasteries in the UK, Ampleforth Abbey has been home to a community of Benedictine monks since 1802. Begin your day at the Visitor Centre, where you will find a warm welcome and discover more about the history of the Abbey and the life of the monks, before visiting the magnificent Abbey Church. Scenic walking trails connect the Abbey’s lakes, woodland and heritage orchard, whilst the Tearoom offers delicious homemade food and stunning views of the valley below. With free entry and free parking, Ampleforth Abbey offers a unique, memorable and wholesome day out for all.

Open 7 days a week, from 10am – 5pm March to October and 10am – 3pm November to February.
Directions
The easiest way to reach Ampleforth Abbey is by car. We are 45 minutes from York or 25 minutes from Thirsk, with free parking on-site.
