The Yorkshire Arboretum, York, North Yorkshire
On the Castle Howard Estate near York, a beautiful landscape of 120 acres of parkland, lakes and ponds is the backdrop for a collection of more than 6,000 trees from around the world.
Lovely throughout the year, in spring and early summer it is ablaze with naturalised flowering bulbs and wildflower meadows, while in autumn the colours are spectacular. Wander off to explore peaceful hidden glades, let the children go wild in the woodland playground and enjoy the very best in seasonal, home-cooked food in the café. Free weekly tours and a busy events programme ensure there’s always something to see and do, whenever you visit. Under 12’s are admitted free of charge and group bookings are warmly welcomed.

15 miles NE of York. Follow the brown signs for Castle Howard. The Yorkshire Arboretum is located opposite the entrance to Castle Howard.
